New Malarkey asphalt shingle roof on a Coquitlam home after cedar shake conversion

The Project

A moss-covered cedar shake roof on a hillside Coquitlam home, surrounded by tall conifers, converted to a complete Malarkey asphalt roofing system. We stripped the cedar, replaced rotten skip strapping, sheathed the whole roof in new plywood, installed Malarkey synthetic underlayment, then Malarkey architectural shingles with matching Malarkey hip and ridge caps.

Materials

  • Malarkey architectural shingles
  • Malarkey Secure Start PLUS synthetic underlayment
  • Malarkey hip & ridge caps
  • Plywood roof sheathing
  • Ice-and-water protection membrane
  • Pre-finished metal valley flashing
  • New roof vents and pipe flashings
